How do ICON extended travel coilovers provide more travel over stock on Toyota FJ Cruisers? Follow
Most independent front suspension systems use the coilover as the component that dictates down travel. The upper control arm is typically the limiting factor due to it's lack of angularity. ICON engineers have found that more travel is available if the upper control arm is replaced with a unit that allows for additional suspension movement. When you combine the added angularity of the ICON upper control arm with the extended travel coil over the suspension is capable of more down travel.
ICON engineers design each application to allow the maximum travel available given the factory geometry. Systems with an ICON UCA included in the kit will automatically default to extended travel coilovers when applicable.
- ICON Stage 1 kits have a standard travel coilover since no UCA is present in the kit.
- ICON Stage 2 is where UCAs are first introduced to the systems, and will include extended travel coilovers through the rest of the stages.
